Robert V. Adams

Robert V Adams was born and brought up in Hampshire, moved to the north of England when he left school and later lived in Hull for a quarter of a century, before moving to the wooded fringe of Hessle, where he now lives and writes fiction full time. He worked as a gardener, hotel cellarman, prison officer and acting governor of a penal institution, before turning to writing.

He is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association and the CWA published his short story ‘The Hull Executive’. He chaired the Books Committee of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain for several years and was chair of the judges of the UK Writers’ Guild 2008 Best Book Award.

Robert is concerned with promoting the cause of writers at the margins of the publishing industry who, perhaps, are starting out on their careers or who write for niche markets and cannot, or do not want, to seek a significant income through mass publishing. In 2003, he founded Bitterne Books, a small publishing business, as a means of sharing with other writers ways of publishing and self-publishing short runs of books. He is a co-founder and a director of the Writers’ Guild Books Cooperative.
